ken fulk’s architectural kitchen
Based out of a National Historic Landmark in San Francisco, celebrated designer Ken Fulk transformed Saint Joseph’s Church into a 22,000-square-foot art, retail, and performance space designed to provide a haven, a forum, and a source of inspiration for artists, patrons, and the public. A truly epic undertaking, Clive Christian was honoured to be cabinet maker of choice for the exhibition kitchen, with the project managed by the San Francisco design consultancy.
“The restoration and reinvention of the 1913 National Historic Landmark Saint Joseph’s Church was a painstaking process that began with a two-year retrofit by architects Page & Turnbull followed by a historic interior preservation of the rose windows, millwork, plaster and architectural details. When it came time to select the finishes of the newly added interior elements, the 9,000 square foot mezzanine including an exhibition kitchen, we needed quality craftsmanship that would complement this historic structure. Clive Christian Interiors was an obvious choice for the kitchen and the polished burled walnut with van Cronenburg cabinet hardware integrated beautifully into the highly aesthetic atmosphere of Saint Joseph’s Arts Society.”

The kitchen was built on the Clive Christian Architectural Collection, finished in Cool Walnut with Burr Inlay and paired with van Cronenburg cabinet hardware. The 9,000-square-foot mezzanine installation demonstrates how the Architectural Collection’s design vocabulary, developed for the private residence, translates into a landmark public and commercial setting.
