PRINCES STREET PRIVATE CLIENT LOUNGE

Commissioned by a prominent diamond merchant in Edinburgh, UK, Clive Christian Furniture were the obvious choice to create a private lounge with a fitted bar. Overlooking the stunning Princes Street Gardens, the private lounge allows notable clients to unwind and immerse themselves in a bespoke consultation whilst being surrounded by the very best of British luxury cabinetry. 

Opting for our signature architectural cabinetry, the statement bar is finished in a Cool Walnut and showcases textured veneered panels adding warmth and depth to the island. A striking addition supported by the cool, dark tones of our hand-painted navy wall panelling, framing the outer wall and floor to ceiling windows. 

In true Clive Christian Furniture fashion, we wanted to create a focal piece that would adorn the statement bar. We opted for a beautiful marquetry panel, the epitome of personalisation, which would act as the centrepiece for the open dresser cabinet. 

Bordered by bold and majestic architectural pilasters, the panel illustrates the view from Calton Hill – a nature spot in the heart of Edinburgh and encapsulates many of Edinburgh's most iconic landmarks. 

As with every project, it all starts with a pencil sketch, with each design component carefully considered to deliver a design scheme bespoke to space. Meticulously chosen to depict the rich tones seen across the Edinburgh skyline, the panel features a palette of complementary veneers – Burr Oak, Straight Grain Oak, Tinted Burr Walnut and Birdseye Maple. When used in combination, it truly immortalises the shadows and highlights of this awe-inspiring scene. 

The scene is backed by a magnificent textured Burr Walnut, mirroring the detail applied to panels of the architectural bar. This striking veneer was also applied to the inside of the dresser cabinet, creating a seamless pattern of movement.
