CORDINGS GRAND COUNTRY CABINET

PICCADILLY, LONDON

Part of the ‘Town & Country Collection’, the ‘Grand Country Cabinet’ was inspired by our London Craft Week partnership with Cordings - who have been trading on London’s Piccadilly since 1839.

'We immersed ourselves within the Cordings quintessentially British approach to outfitting'

Oliver Deadman - Head of Design

For the design inspiration of our Grand Country Cabinet, we immersed ourselves within the Cordings quintessentially British approach to outfitting and their customer narrative - a professional gentleman of social stature – whom at the end of a busy, business week retires to his rural, des-res in order to enjoy some well-earned country pursuits.

Crafted from European Oak timbers, it was important that the cabinetry felt equally at home within a period townhouse or a regal country escape.  The physical silhouette of the furniture has an air of simplistic sophistication. A classical furniture arrangement; consisting of pilasters flanking cabinetry with embellishment of fine detailed timber profiles – cut and mitred into a breakfront formation.

The depth and quality of craftmanship become the key feature of the flat panel doors – allowing the beautiful feature veneers of decorative burr cluster oak, an outer radial frame of quarter cut walnut and a contrasting pinstripe of lemon satin wood to play centre stage.

Key features of this considered design include:

  • Double width cabinetry to accommodate field & formal wear

  • Double height hanging in the central doors for long riding mackintoshes and tall wellington boots

  • Top line shelf storage for foldable items and headwear

  • Single height hanging to left & right doors for formal wear

  • Internal base cabinetry drawers for accessories

Beauty is most certainly not skin deep – we pride ourselves on detail.

Beauty is most certainly not skin deep with a Clive Christian Furniture Co. interior – we pride ourselves on detail.

Internal panel work of airy oak is paired with beautiful English Wellington Green leather - a subtle nod to the country, which compliments the gentile house check of Cordings quite wonderfully! Our hides are sourced from a Scottish tannery, Bridge of Weir, who are synonymous within the luxury automotive industry.

The drawer boxes are activated to reveal etched illustrations, creating a truly unique signature finish.

The cabinet is decorated with our 'Classical Luxe' cabinetry hardware. The handle, alike our cabinetry, is entirely customisable. The client can choose between solid brass or steel turnings with the option to add personalisation to the insert, in this instance we have chosen to display the stylish brand insignia. These pieces are all designed and crafted in the UK, uniquely for Clive Christian Furniture Co. to perfectly complement our fine furniture.

The TOWN & COUNTRY COLLECTION is available for commission and can be customised to your own design.  If you have a project you would like to discuss with us, our team are at your disposal, and look forward to answering your questions.
